Hi I am an electrician. Some of my customers want a quote rather than an estimate. How do I do this? A purchase order seems a bit strange in my line of business. Upgrade QB

Hello, sitrimelectrical,

I can provide clarification about how estimates work in QuickBooks Online.

Estimate feature is used when you'd want to give your customer a quote, bid, or proposal for work you plan to do.

In QuickBooks Online, you have the option to customise your estimate template and renamed it to quote. Here's how:

  1. Click the Gear icon at the top.
  2. Select Custom Form Styles.
  3. Click the New style button, then select Estimate on the drop-down.
  4. In the Estimate template window, you can edit the information you'd want to show by going to the Design, Content, Emails, and Payments tab.
  5. Once set up, click Done.

From there, you're now ready to send a Quote to your customers.

To learn more about the Estimate feature, you can read this article: Set up and use estimates.
