Hi there.

Yes, we can edit an invoice in QuickBooks Online (QBO) to correct errors or make necessary changes.  If you've already sent the invoice to your customer, it's a good practice to communicate with them about the changes made.

Here's how you can alter an invoice:

  1. Go to the Sales menu then select Invoices.
  2. Locate the invoice then click on it to show the option to Edit invoice.

  3. Make the necessary changes.
  4. When prompted by a message click OK or Yes.
  5. When done editing, hit on Save.

It's important to note that editing an invoice will affect the corresponding accounts and financial reports in QuickBooks Online. If you have already recorded payments or applied any transactions to the invoice, you may need to make additional adjustments such as deleting the payment transaction to ensure your books remain accurate.

To delete the payment transaction:

  1. Go to Sales then select All Sales or Customers.
  2. Locate the payment then click on it to open.
  3. Click on More then select Delete.

  4. When done, hit on Save and close.

Remember, if you're uncertain about any specific details or have complex invoicing requirements, it's recommended to consult with a professional accountant to ensure accurate financial management.
