How can I add referal discounts to a client and have it automatically deduced off thier next invoice?

I have a referal program where my top clients can earn 10% of any business they refer to me as a discount of thier next invoice.  I want to be able to add this discount so that it is automatically deducded off of the next invoice that goes out to the client so I don't have to remember to add it as a seperate line each time.

Hi sam53,

 

You can create a credit note for your client in QuickBooks Online (QBO), so when you receive payments on future invoices, the credit will appear at the bottom of the screen waiting for you to tick and apply.

 

To record a credit note:

  1. Go to the Create icon and select Credit Note.
  2. Fill out all required fields (including the customer name, date, products/service items, quantities, and amounts).
  3. Choose Save and close once you're done.
