Question

How do I enter CIS deductions on QB? The Company has CIS tax deducted from sales invoices and then pays its sub-contractors less their CIS tax?

Let me share some information about how the Construction Industry Scheme (CIS) works in QuickBooks Online (QBO), w-carruthers.

When turning on the CIS feature, QBO will automatically create your CIS deductions. You can create a CIS expense or an invoice to track the deductions per sub-contractor.

Once the customer is already set up for CIS Contractor, the CIS Labour Standard 20% line item will populate when creating an invoice.

You can also pull up the CIS reports to track your CIS withheld. Just go to the Reports menu and search and select CIS Suffered Summary.

For more details about adding contractor/sub-contractor and CIS transactions, please refer to this article: Already using CIS in QuickBooks?.

Keep me posted if you need a hand with managing CIS accounts or any QBO related. I'll be sure to help.
