How do I import my transactions?

Hi,

My account asked me to upgrade my self employed account to include VAT. Quickbooks said it's not a simple add. I have to join Quickbooks online and then export everything from my old self employed account to my new quickbooks online account. So far, no problem but for transactions it says

Transactions:

  1. In QuickBooks Self-Employed, go to the transactions menu.
  2. Select the filter on the tax year or select All dates if you wish to bring all your transactions over to QuickBooks.
  3. Select the download Download_icon option. Save it somewhere that's easy to find, like your Windows desktop.

I've done ste can't find this download option anywhere.

Thank you for choosing QuickBooks as your business tool, @dom999. I’d be glad to help you with upgrading your subscription from QuickBooks Self-Employed (QBSE) to QuickBooks Online (QBO).

Currently, we’re unable to automatically upgrade or migrate a QBSE account to a QBO account. That’s why we’ll need to export your data from QBSE and import it into a QBO version.

I’ve replicated your concern on my test file and verified that the download icon is visible. This allows you to download your transactions into a .CSV file. You can then name and save it so it’ll be easier to find.

See this screenshot for your reference:

If you’re still unable to find the download icon, can you please add a screenshot of your screen? This way, we can get on the same page and provide accurate solutions for you.

When everything is in place, you can now proceed to signing up for QuickBooks Online. If you want to link the same bank and credit card accounts you used in QuickBooks Self-Employed, you don't need to migrate any transactions.

Otherwise, upload your CSV file into QuickBooks Online. You’ll want to cancel your QuickBooks Self-Employed subscription to avoid double billing. For more tips about the process, open this article: Switch from QuickBooks Self-Employed to QuickBooks Online

I’ve included this link which contains resources to guide you through navigating and working in QuickBooks Online: Getting Started with QuickBooks Online.

Don't hesitate to reply anytime if you still have other concerns with upgrading your subscription to QBO. I'm always here for you. Take care and have a wonderful day ahead.
