When my customers request cashback through the debit card terminal.  How do I account for that in the invoice and within the Quickbooks software?

Thanks for posting in the Community forum, Jml0105.

You can enter a credit card credit transaction to record the cashback by using a Debtor account.

Here's how:

  1. In the left menu, click the + New icon.
  2. Choose Credit card credit
  3. Locate the appropriate account from the Bank/Credit Account drop-down box.
  4. Under the Category details section, select a Debtor account that you for your cashback.
  5. Enter the amount and other necessary information.
  6. Hit Save and close

Once done, create a Credit note for the specific item. Then, link the two transactions.

However, if you'd want to reopen the invoice, instead of creating a credit memo, you can link the initial payment to the credit card credit.

Additionally, I want you to get the most out of QuickBooks for your business. You can check some articles that are designed to help you get acclimated to the software. They can be accessed at the following link: QuickBooks Tutorials.
