Creating an electronic invoice is a breeze, Okedeleoluwole. I'm here to make sure you'll be able to generate one from your QuickBooks Online (QBO) account.

Electronic invoices can help businesses streamline their invoicing processes and improve efficiency in managing financial transactions. They are created, transmitted, and received in a structured electronic format, allowing for automated processing and integration into accounting systems. Please follow these steps to proceed with creating an electronic invoice using the old layout:

  1. Click the + New button and select Invoice.
  2. From the Customer ▼ dropdown, select a customer. Make sure all of their info is correct, especially their email address.
  3. Review the Invoice date. Then from the Terms ▼ dropdown, choose the due date. Net refers to the number of days until the payment is due. The default is 30 days, but you can change the due date if needed.
  4. From the Product/Service column, pick a product or service. You can also click + Add new to create a new product or service right from the invoice.
  5. Enter a QuantityRate and Amount if needed.
  6. Select a VAT rate.
  7. Once done, tap Save.

For more details about the process, please refer to this article: Create invoices in QuickBooks Online. You can also view the steps in this article for creating an invoice using the new layout.

You can also utilize the recurring transactions feature of QBO in the Essentials, Plus, and Advanced versions to create templates for your invoices. However, you'll still have to record or apply the monthly bill payments manually.

Additionally, check out these articles that outline how to customise the look of your invoices to match the branding of your company and record invoice payments to keep correct financial records:
