How do you mark estimates as expired?

In the All Sales screen, if you filter under "Type" for "Estimates", there is then an option under "Status" to filter for "Expired" , but I cant find how to mark an Estimate as "expired", which would be really useful. Any ideas? Thanks

Hello there, @ELM tree. I'll share the steps to change the status of an estimate in QuickBooks Online.

 

Currently, there is no expired status for an estimate. However, you can change the status of an Estimate and choose from the four options:

  • Pending
  • Accepted
  • Closed
  • Rejected

 

You can find the estimate in the Sales menu and change its status there. I'll show you how:

 

  1. Log in to your QuickBooks Online account.
  2. At the left panel, select Sales.
  3. Choose the All Sales tab.
  4. Search and open the estimate.
  5. On the Estimate page, click the Pending drop-down menu.
  6. Select the Pending drop-down and then choose the status of your Estimate. 
  7. Once done, click Save.

 

I'm also bookmarking this page for future use. If you need to add an estimate to an invoice in QuickBooks Online, this will walk you through the procedure.

Hi

Thanks for the response.  If there is no option for Estimates to be marked as "Expired", why is there an option to filter for expired estimates?

Let me elaborate to you some details on what this option means, ELM tree.

 

If you're referring to the options found under the Filter drop-down and specifically on the Date field highlighted in yellow. The fields aren't for expired transactions. Rather, these are for transactions that were created for a specific period of time.  I've attached a screenshot below for your visual guide:

 

 

Apart from this, if you filter estimates from 7/05/2020 (as shown above) until 9/01/2020 ( shown in blank), this will simply show all the estimates created within this date range. Furthermore, learn how to run reports and customise them to get the information you need: Customise Reports In QuickBooks Online.
