How to add the one image which is displayed in the list of product and services via API?

im trying to add THE image shown in products and services via the API, without success. Could you please detailed instructions how to do it?

i have identically looking entries in 

AttachableRef

for images i added manually through the UI and such i added to an item via the API. 
but such i add through the API never show up as THE single image in the UI.
