Question

I am on QuickBooks self employed but find it lacking on a few features like the ability to mark part payments on an invoice and also to do quotes. Any idea if any of the packages have these functions?

I can share what you can do to your invoices in QuickBooks Self-Employed (QBSE), multifitkitchens.

The option to make partial payments and do quotes (estimates) are available in QuickBooks Online (QBO).

In QBSE, you need to manually mark invoices as fully paid, Then, select Send receipt to email your customer a proof that you received the payment.

Let me show you how:

  1. Go to the Invoices menu.
  2. Find the invoice.
  3. Select the small arrow ▼ icon in the Action column.
  4. Select Mark as paid.
  5. Choose Send receipt to send your customer proof you received their payment.

Check out this article for the workflow and additional information: Create invoices in QuickBooks Self-Employed.

If you wish to move your QBSE data to QBO, feel free to read through this page: Switch from QuickBooks Self-Employed to QuickBooks Online. It provides detailed information on how to successfully transfer your file. Once done, you can then create invoices and quotes.
