Question

I can no longer see when a customer views the invoice. It only says sent. What can I do to get it working again?

I know the customer has viewed my invoices but it doesn’t show up on my QuickBooks.

Hi, userjsconstruction.

When the customer receives and opens the invoices, the statuses in QuickBooks Online are instantly changed. You can see it on the Invoices page/tab.

  1. Click Sales on the left menu.
  2. Go to the Invoices tab.

It should show as Viewed in the STATUS column.

It will also appear under the Activities section of your invoice as "Viewed.". Open the invoice and scroll down to the Activities section. If your customer is claiming they already viewed the invoice. Then, let's perform some troubleshooting steps to isolate this. You may have experienced a browser-related issue caused by too much cache stored on your browser.

We'll begin by using a private browser to get into your account. Depending on the browser you're running, I've included the shortcut keys below:

  • Google Chrome: press Ctrl Shift
  • Mozilla Firefox: press Ctrl Shift P
  • Safari: press Command Shift N

If this works, we can clear your cache in your regular browser. You can also try switching to a different supported browser if private browsing fails.

In addition, I've added some articles you can use to automatically send reminders to customers, as well as emailing invoices:
