Question

I have a specific invoicing requirement which I think is fairly unique. Can I have a chat with an expert?

We are a theatre ats school. We produce invoices for families who can have multiple children doing multiple classes. If a student does more than 3 classes they get a discount eg. 4 classes 20%, 5 classes 30% etc. Can this be accommodated in quickbooks?

Hello there, @DaveGoodwin!

 

You can utilize the Discount function and manually enter the discount percentage of your sales transactions.

  1. Go to the Gear icon.
  2. Under Your Company, select Accounts and Settings.
  3. Select Sales.
  4. On the Sales form content section, select Discount.
  5. Click Save.

From here, let's create a service item for each class you're offering. To do so, here's how you can create a new service item:

  1. Select Products and Services.
  2. Click New.
  3. Select Service.
  4. Enter the name of your new item
  5. Click Save and close.

Once done, you can start creating your invoices and make sure to enter the discount percentage. You can take a look at the screen I've included below.

Hello,

I am currently enrolled in a local colleges' small business bookkeeping program and have a QBO account as part of the course. Am I able to use this account for my business? if not, do y'all offer a student discount?

Happy to help you, Jeff. 

 

I'm happy to help you get a student version of QuickBooks Online. This way, you'll be able to use this account in your classes.

 

QuickBooks Online for students is offered for free for one year in the United States and Canada. Thus, this is not yet available in the United Kingdom.

 

But if you're using the region mentioned above, you can use this in your business transactions if your teacher approves it. Ideally, this account should only be used for replication purposes by students. 

 

If they agree, let your teacher register as educators for the product. Then welcome emails with forms are sent after registration. After that, have your teachers email the completed form to educationregistration@intuit.com with the names of each student who wants to use QuickBooks.

 

Here's how:

 

  1. Go to the Intuit Education Program website.
  2. Select the Sign Up for free tab in the Empower, your students with QuickBooks section. 
  3. Fill up the form, then click Verify and continue.

 

 

If your instructors can't find their school on the list during registration, the school may be new to our program and not on-boarded yet. Let them send a school-named email to education@intuit.com. This way, the education team will add eligible schools to the list. Once completed, your teachers will send you a link where you can register and activate your account. 

 

In addition, you may utilize our sample account or sign up for our free one-month trial for small businesses. So, you can keep track of your business transactions without mixing them with your students' information.
