Question

I have an invoice which is not yet complete, I af to it as I do work, but it is showing as being paid when I haven't been. Any ideas?

Your confusion ends here, @daphie18.

 

It's possible that the Automatically apply credits feature was turned on that's why the invoice shows as paid even if they haven't paid yet. To get this resolved, you'll have to remove the applied credit on the invoice and turn off the feature. Here's how to remove the applied credit:

 

  1. Find and open the paid invoice.
  2. Click the 1 payment made link under the Payment Status. Then, select the date.
  3. In the Receive Payment window, go to the Credits section and uncheck the applied credit.
  4. Click Save and close.

 

Once done, you can now turn off the option to avoid credits automatically applied to the open invoices. Let me guide you how.

 

  1. Click the Gear icon, then select Account and Settings.
  2. Go to the Advanced menu.
  3. In the Automation section, turn off the Automatically apply credits option.
  4. Click Save, then Done.

 

You might also want to review all your sales transactions in QuickBooks Online (QBO). You can go to the Sales menu and select All Sales.
