Question

I have invoices showing as outstanding but they have been paid. I can’t switch them to categorised from “review” because the payment is not showing in QuickBooks.

The payment is on my bank statement and my bank is connected to QuickBooks. So why can’t I switch these invoices to
My “categorised” section on app. I checked in “categorised” and the payment is not there. And the invoices don’t give me option to match them to a payment either.

I understand you'd want to categorise invoice transactions in QuickBooks Online, @romanbathprivate. Let me share some ideas and walk you through the process.

In some cases, QuickBooks will search for the downloaded payments you can use to match the invoice. If not, you'll need to look up the corresponding payment transaction manually. I'll show you how:

  1. Open the Banking menu, then go to Banking.
  2. Select the For Review tab.
  3. Search for the deposit, then click to open the transaction.
  4. Click on Find Match.
  5. You can filter the result by changing the data range.
  6. Pick the matching transaction, then hit Save.

There you go! You should now see the invoice transaction as categorised.

See this guide for more information about putting transactions to the right accounts: Categorise and match online bank transactions in QuickBooks Online.
