Question

I’m just entering expenses for the month and I can’t enter the date I want, or if I do change it and it goes back to the date I’m entering it on

Hello there, @john-mccarthy40.

When you create an expense transaction (i.e. Expense, Cheque, Bill) the default date is the one that you've previously entered. You're able to enter the date you want by manually typing it in (dd/mm/yyyy) or by selecting the Calendar icon in the Date field (Please see the attached file below).

Since you're unable to complete your task, I'd recommend performing some troubleshooting steps to isolate the date issue when creating transactions in QuickBooks Online (QBO). Let me guide you how.

You can start by opening your QBO account using a private browser (incognito). Here's how:

  • Press Ctrl Shift (Google Chrome)
  • Ctrl Shift (Firefox)
  • Control Option (Safari)

Once signed in, go ahead and enter an expense transaction for the month by selecting the + New button. If it works, return to your default browser and clear its cache and cookies. This will refresh the system and remove older data which causes viewing and performance issues. However, if the issue persists, I'd recommend using other supported browsers.

After that, you can pull up an expense report (i.e. Expense by Supplier Summary or Bills and Applied Payments). This way, you're able to effectively monitor your purchases and payments accordingly. Just go to the What you owe and Expenses and suppliers sections in the Reports menu's Standard tab.

Please let me know how it goes by sharing a comment below. If you have other concerns or follow-up inquiries, simply select the Reply button. I'm just around to help. Take care always.
