Question

I simply want to type and add a note to estimates for my own reference, why must this be an attachment and why wont it recognise WORD attachments?

Such a simple thing but it seems so hard and frustrating to do ?

Welcome to the Community space, @ahplumbing. I'm here to ensure you can add notes to your estimates.

In QuickBooks Online, you have the option to type and add notes to your estimates to serve as your reference. To do this, you can simply enter the description in the Message displayed on statement section.

Here's how:

  1. From the left panel, choose Sales.
  2. Look for the estimate.
  3. Select the transaction.
  4. In the Message displayed on statement field, enter the notes.
  5. Once done, click Save.

Otherwise, you can use the Custom field as another workaround. Let's make sure also to turn off the Print on form button. This way, it will not be included when you send the transaction.

At times, we roll out enhancements based on our customer's requests. That being said, I suggest sending a recommendation to our product developers. They'll review this idea and might consider updating it in the future.
