I recognize your difficulties dealing with Journal Entries in QuickBooks Online (QBO), Dave198. I'm here to share information regarding this matter.

Please know that QuickBooks has been undergoing updates to meet the needs of our users. One of them was migrating our QBO Standard Payroll users to QBO Core Payroll on July 31, 2024. Therefore, if you were using QBO Standard Payroll, you were affected by these changes.

With the recent updates, we need to review your payroll settings to ensure that your payroll transactions match the ones downloaded from the bank. Kindly follow the steps provided below:

  1. Go to the Gear Icon, then select Payroll Settings.
  2. In the Accounting section, click on the pencil icon to Edit.
  3. On the Payroll payment and payroll tax payments, review the bank used when pulling up the payroll transactions. Create changes when necessary, then click Save.
  4. Scroll down, then click on the pencil icon beside the Update transaction to match the current payroll preferences created.
  5. Once finished, tap Done.

After that, you can then start to match your online bank transactions.

Moreover, if you're using QBO Payroll Advanced, you can utilize this article mapping accounts with various payroll transactions: Mapping General Ledger Accounts in QuickBooks Online Advanced Payroll.

Once your transactions are ready, these helpful materials will help you reconcile your account:

Don’t hesitate to return to this thread if you have any QBO-related queries, Dave198. I’ll be here to answer them at any time.
