Question

I want to automatically add the date to the front of the invoice number to avoid duplicate invoice numbers with invoices that's pulled in from another software.

I can share some information about customizing your invoice number, @hello-evowrap-co

Yes, the invoice number can be formatted as DD/MM/YYYYY ### (for example, 15/10/2021 001). The program will then follow that sequence when creating invoices. However, you will need to change the date manually to achieve this.

To edit the invoice number:

  1. Go to the + New button and select Invoice.
  2. Fill in the invoice and on the Invoice no. field on the right and change the number.
  3. Click Save once you're done.

More information on custom invoice numbering can be found in this article: How to change the invoice number on sales forms

Once you've received the invoice payments, refer to the following article for instructions on how to enter them: Record invoice payments in QuickBooks Online.
