Question

Is anybody else having the problem where the description of a snapped receipt won't accept a new description when trying to create expense?

Thank you for informing us of your problem, userjoe6.

As of now, we haven't received any reports from users who experienced the same issue when adding an expense from a snapped receipt in QuickBooks Online (QBO).

But there are times when the browser is filled with temporary internet files from frequently visited pages, which can cause strange behaviors.

We can perform troubleshooting steps to check if there are any underlying browser issues. Let's by accessing your QuickBooks Online account through a private/incognito window. We'll open one from your browser using the keyboard shortcuts listed below:

  • For Google Chrome browser: Ctrl + Shift + N
  • For Mozilla Firefox browser: Ctrl + Shift + P
  • For Safari browser: Command + Option + P

Once done, upload the receipt again and create the transaction with the new description. If it works, then we can go back to your regular browsing window and clear its cache. This will remove any outdated or corrupted files that are causing the strange behavior.

You can also use other supported browsers that works perfectly with QuickBooks Online.

Otherwise, if you're using the QBO app in uploading your receipt, you can also clear the app's data to refresh it.

For Android

  1. Tap and hold the QBO app icon.
  2. Choose App info.
  3. Select Clear data.

For iOS

  1. In the QBO app, go to the Help menu.
  2. Select Reset App Data.
  3. Click OK.

As a general guide for adding and managing expenses in QBO. you make use of this article: Enter and manage expenses in QuickBooks Online.
