Question

On Quickbooks SE I want to send an invoice that has the pdf attached instead of the odd series of links/messages that gets sent when you click send. I've found the export as pdf and also the send option from the preview page on the mobile version. Ho

Thanks for visiting the Community today, Zimeone.

Let me share some insights into how each action button works when sending invoices in QBSE.

The Export as PDF function allows you to save a copy of the invoice. Then, convert it to another format. At the same time, the Send option lets you deliver the entry via email.

When sending an invoice with a PDF attachment, I still suggest logging in to your QBSE account using a browser. This way, you’ll be able to attach a document.

Here’s an article that provides an overview of the task you can when using the Invoice feature: Create invoices in QuickBooks Self-Employed.

Feel free to visit the Community again if you need help with QBSE. I’ll be around to assist further. Have a good one.

I'm sorry but this does not address my issue at all. I wish to send my invoice AS a pdf only not to attach a separate pdf to it. My issue is that when the invoice email is received the recipient has to click through about 4 links that follow through web browsers and some rather alarmingly worded and frankly inappropriate pages stating rather crassly in bold the total of the invoice and to contact 'my full name' if they can't pay it. What I would very much like is to be able to do is customise this down to just a 'hard' copy attachment (my invoice as a pdf) and a nicely worded note to thank them for the work. I really feel that this should be a base level option for Quickbooks but if anyone out there knows how to achieve this I would be most grateful. Thank you for your time.

Thanks for getting back to us Zimeone, unfortunately, it's not possible to edit the email invoice format or send this as a PDF-only, you'd need to download the PDF and send this via your own email provider to the customer. We agree this would be handy and we're always looking for ways to develop our products and we'll pass on an enhancement request for this, if there's anything else you'd like to see please get back to us below. Thanks again! 🙇‍♀️
