Is there a way in which invoice payments can automatically be added to transactions as income?

Glad to see you here today, @Sam11_2 willink.

I'll share some insight about automatically categorizing invoice payments as an income in QuickBooks Self-Employed (QBSE).

Marking the invoice as paid will not automatically tag this as income since the invoices are for tracking purposes only. It will only be accounted for income after you categorize the actual payment/deposit in QuickBooks.

What we need to do is to categorize them as an income once those invoice payments are downloaded on your Transactions page. Let me show you how:

  1. Navigate to the Transactions menu.
  2. Find a transaction on the list.
  3. Pick Business if the transaction was for business, or select Personal for personal.
  4. Check the category in the Category column. QuickBooks tries to categorize transactions for you.
  5. If you need to change the category, select the category link.
  6. Once done, click Save.

For future reference, you can read through this article: Create rules to speed up reviews. This will give you guidelines on how to use rules to quickly categorize recent and past transactions. It also provides steps on how to edit or delete a transaction rule.

I'm just one reply away if you need help managing sales transactions in QBSE. I'll be here to ensure your success. Keep safe!
