How can I record a payment from the undeposited funds account?

E.G I paid the window cleaner £10 from the daily takings (till) before it was banked.

(My daily sales will now be £10 short when banked & matched to the undeposited funds account)

I'd be glad to join you here and help with your inquiry about recording the payments, Monty250.

You can actually select the Undeposited Funds account as the payment account for an expense transaction. This way, the total amount in your cash register will be the same as what's in your Undeposited Funds.

Here's how:

  1. Click the + New button and select Expense or Cheque.
  2. Go to the Payment account field and choose Undeposited Funds.
  3. Enter all other details of the payment and click Save and close.

Although, I would still recommend reaching out to an accountant for additional advice on how to properly record the payment. This is just to make sure that your books will remain accurate when closing and reconciling at the end of the period.

More details about using the Undeposited Funds account are discussed here:

Don't hesitate to get back here and let me know if you're able to record the payment from your Undeposited Funds accounts. You can also ask follow-up questions if you need anything else.
