Sorry, an unexpected error has occurred. Please try again.

I just linked my first account to QuickBooks Online and just finished going through ALL of my transactions when I realized that I was missing 2 months of transactions. I tried to download a .csv and a .qbo file from my bank of the older transactions but both times it gives me the same error. "Sorry, an unexpected error has occurred. Please try again."  It doesn't give me any clues as to how to fix the error. Any help?

Hello there, @Luked6.

Let's perform some troubleshooting steps to rule out the possibility of a browser issue and to get you to import your older bank transactions in QuickBooks Online (QBO).

Your browser saves files to load websites faster on your next visit. But over time, it'll get outdated, which can cause errors and performance issues while performing tasks.

To fix this, you can perform some troubleshooting steps. Start by downloading a .csv or a .qbo file from your bank using a private browser (incognito). Here's how:

  • Press Ctrl Shift (Google Chrome)
  • Ctrl Shift (Firefox)
  • Control Option (Safari)

Once you're signed in to your bank's website, start the download process (article's steps 1 and 2).

If you're able to do so, return to your default browser and clear its cache. This will refresh the system and remove older data that causes viewing and performance issues. However, if this matter continues, I'd recommend using other supported browsers.

When you're done downloading your older transactions, import them to QuickBooks and then categorise them to put in the correct accounts.

Keep me posted in the comments if you have other banking concerns or questions about managing transactions in QBO. I'll gladly help. Take care, @Luked6.
