I can help you record the tax payment into your QuickBooks Online account, Chris2003.

Accurate bookkeeping requires documenting VAT (tax) payments and associating each transaction with an invoice or bill to maintain a balanced record of funds.

Here's how to accomplish the task:

  1. Go to Taxes and select VAT.
  2. Click the ▼dropdown menu next to the return.
  3. Choose Record Payment.
  4. Select the bank account you've used to pay HMRC.
  5. Enter the payment date and amount in the appropriate fields.
  6. Add a memo if needed.
  7. Tap Save.

Following these steps, you can record the tax payment made to HMRC in QBO.

I'm sharing this article that will provide you with more tips for recording VAT payments and changing the filing status as a guide: Submit a VAT return to HMRC using MTD in QuickBooks Online.
