Question

The billable expenses system is flawed. Why cant we just add the price and the percentage box works out the percentage itself if we want, both boxes should be editable

It consumes hours of my week working out percentages for every item we sell instead of just popping the selling price in the box, driving me mad! not what I pay for, sick of adverts saying how simple the system is!

I know this wasn't an easy process for you, jr68.

 

Let's take a look at some factors and work on the flow of billable expenses in QuickBooks Online. When you add the billable expense to an invoice, you're unable to change the mark up percentage rate.

 

For me to provide the exact solution you're looking for, would you mind sending a screenshot of the page your working at? I just want to make sure that we're on the same page.

No there isn't a problem with actual page, its the system you have put in place that doesn't work for me. we have no set markup percentage so every item entered has to be worked out individually. it would work out much quicker and easier for me to simply enter the sale price and the percentage work itself out, instead of other way round.  However my daughter created an excel calculator last night to quickly work out the percentages so I have a fix for now. But would hugely improve your expensive system if you could sort the problem too.

Hi jr68 At the present time the system will only allow you to enter the net/original amount of the item and then you enter the percentage of the markup. We appreciate that you would like the system to allow you to do this in reverse, as in enter the gross amount of the item and enter the percentage so it then shows the net/original amount. We'll submit a product enhancement request for our developers consideration and we encourage you to submit feedback from within the product.
