Weekend Transactions

I frequently do my banking on a weekend and whilst the bank balance changes correctly the actual weekend transactions do not show until the Monday.

I have just paid a load of invoices and whilst the balance shows I have made payments, I have no transactions to allocate - they will not show until Monday - but I want to allocate everything now!

Please help

Good to see you here in the Community, lisa-woolnough.

To ensure we can allocate weekend transactions, we can perform a few manual updates to refresh the connection between your bank and QuickBooks Online. Here's how:

  1. On the left navigation menu, click Transactions.
  2. Choose Banking.
  3. Select the respective Bank and hit Update in the upper right. QuickBooks begins updating your account.
  4. You can do this 2 or 3 times during non-peak hours.

However, if it's still not showing your weekend statements, we can use the WebConnect feature to manually bring in your transactions. Let me walk you through the process:

Step 1: Pick a start date:

  1. In QuickBooks, go to the Accounting menu and then select Chart of Accounts.
  2. Look for the bank or credit card account you want to upload the transactions into.
  3. Click View register.
  4. Find and write down the date of the oldest transaction. Usually, the oldest transaction is the opening balance.

Step 2: Get transactions from your bank:

  1. Sign in to your bank or credit card’s website.
  2. Follow your bank’s instructions on how to download CSV files of your transactions to your computer. Every financial institution has different steps. For Bank of AmericaChase, and Wells Fargo.
  3. Check the date range for the download. It should be at least one day before the date of your oldest transaction.
  4. Download your transactions. Save the file somewhere you can easily find it, like your computer's desktop.

Once done, we can refer to this article to help us manage and categorise your bank transactions,: Add and match downloaded bank transactions [Video].

Let me know if there's anything else you need, lisa-woolnough. I'll be around to provide additional assistance. Have a good one.
