Thanks for reaching out to us, nickchapple.

Please know that each field in the program has a maximum number of characters that can be entered. I understand that you need to track the complete details of your invoices. Your ideas and suggestions will help us determine what functionalities our customers need and want.

To help improve your experience, I encourage submitting feedback to our Product Development Team. We always are check feedback submissions, and take them into consideration when prioritizing feature development. Here's how:

  1. Log in to your QBSE account.
  2. Click the Assistant icon.
  3. Enter"feedback" into the chatbox.
  4. Select a category, then enter comments and product suggestions.

In the meantime, you'll want to consider entering the rest of the details in the Message section. This field can contain up to 230 characters.

I'm also adding this article to help manage your invoices and edit your invoicing preferences in QuickBooks Self-Employed: Create invoices.

Keep me posted if you have any other concerns or follow-up questions about how invoices work. The Community always has your back.

Hi there, @nickchapple.

Thanks for getting back to us. Allow me to chime in and answer your questions about character limitations in QuickBooks.

In QuickBooks, each field has a maximum number of characters that can be entered. For the customer message (invoice), it has a maximum of 101 characters.

You can check out this article to see the other fields with their character limits: Character limitations for fields in QuickBooks.

If you wish to have more characters in each field, I suggest sending feedback directly to our Product Development Team. You can follow the steps shared by my colleague Klent above on how to do it in your QBSE account.

For tips and other resources, you may visit our website for future reference: Self-help articles.

I'm only a few clicks away if you need more help with invoices or anything else in QBSE. Take care and have a good one.
