How do I create VAT returns for Previous periods?

I have the VAT returns for Jan/Feb 23 and March/April23 and May June 2023. But I need to create then for the previous year. How do I back date the VAT returns?

Hello there.

 

I'll show you how to create a VAT return for Jan/Feb 23 and March/April 23 and May/June 2023.

 

You can prepare your return for this period by following these steps:

 

  1. Go to Taxes.
  2. Choose VAT.
  3. Look for the Open returns or change the view to Open returns from the drop-down.
  4. Click Prepare return.

    After following these steps

     

    • Go to Taxes.
    • Choose VAT.
    • Look for the Open returns or change the view to Open returns from the drop-down.
    • Click Prepare return.

     

    How do I adjust the Start date of the return it stays on 1 May 2023. I do not have an option to change the start date?

    Hi there,

     

    Thank you for posting here in the Community space. I can share information about changing the VAT return's start date in QuickBooks Online.

     

    The Start date is the end date of your previous return. Once filed, the only way to create or edit the previous return is by contacting our QuickBooks Support Team. 

     

    Here's how you can contact support:

     

    1. Click the Help option in the upper-right corner.
    2. Go to the Search tab.
    3. Click Contact Us.
    4. Enter your concern, then select Continue.
    5. Choose Chat.

     

    Also, you can pull up VAT reports to view detailed information about your returns. You'll want to pull up the VAT Summary Report, VAT Detail Report, or VAT liability report.
