Question

A payment to HMRC included VAT and Corporation Tax. How do I split the payment between Corporation Tax and the VAT control?

It’s good to know that you’ve already paid your taxes, accounts164!

I can walk you through the steps to record your VAT Payment. However, for the Corporation tax part, it’s best if you can reach an accountant about it. Currently, we don’t support that kind of tax in QuickBooks.

To record your VAT Payment:

  1. Go to Taxes and click on Record Payment for the specific VAT period you need.
  2. At the top, select the bank account you've used to pay HMRC.
  3. Select Payment under Payment Type.
  4. Enter the Payment date and amount.
  5. Add a memo if needed and click Save.

We have a short video about recording a VAT payment. You can play it in this article: How to record a VAT payment or refund.

I found a thread about recording a corporation tax payment. Feel free to check it out: https://intuit.me/2Pn9Z3L. Rajanikanth's has some inputs about it.

You can ask questions aside from recording payments. We'll be happy to assist you further.

Hello Community Users, we just wanted to pop in and add an update regarding corporation tax and QuickBooks Online. There is now an option in workpapers in QuickBooks Online Accountant version to prepare and submit the corporation tax return (sometimes called CT600 form) We have included a help article on the how to steps here for any accountant users who would like more information.

Any questions please just ask them.
