Let's work together to get this option, @sandymdooley-gma.

You'll see the Submit with a Spreadsheet option when you've fully completed setting up the making tax digital settings. Let's check your profile to get started.

  1. Click Taxes.
  2. At the top, make sure you see your Enabled VAT Making Tax Digital badge.
    • If so, you can submit your VAT return for MTD through QuickBooks.
    • If not, please continue the process to enable it.

The detailed steps are found in this article: Authorise QuickBooks to Interact with HMRC - MTD for Small Businesses.

Thank you for your reply.

I have a Enabled VAT Making Tax Digital badge, please see the screenshot below.

I also have three companies set up (an error), would this have something to do with not having Submit with a Spreadsheet option available?

Help is appreciated!

Thanks for getting back to us, sandymdooley.

It's okay to have those three companies. Just make sure you're accessing the account where you've enabled the VAT Making Tax Digital.

Let's perform some troubleshooting steps to isolate the issue. You can start by logging in to your QuickBooks account using a private window.

If you're seeing the Submit With a spreadsheet option on the private window, you can go back to the regular browser. Then, clear cache and cookies to retrieve the functionality.

Follow the steps to clear cache for your browser.

After clearing the cache, make sure to restart your browser for changes to take effect. Then, sign back into QuickBooks and check again the Submit With a spreadsheet option.

If you're still unable to see the option, I recommend contacting our QuickBooks Live Support Team. They can check this for you and create a case when needed to further investigate the issue.

When everything looks good, you can submit VAT returns in QuickBooks. Here's a video tutorial and detailed steps as a guide: Submit a VAT return through bridging software - MTD for small businesses.
