Client is set up as a primary admin and tries to log in using their own login credentials, but it doesn't seem to want to do it. Client is also using same email address for another client and that works fine.

Hello and welcome to the QuickBooks Community, Lucy

We'll be happy to share some guidance on submitting VAT returns through MTD in QuickBooks Online.

If your client hasn't granted permission for you to submit on their behalf through your agent services account, they can submit their own returns through QuickBooks instead.

To do this, your client will have to authorise QuickBooks to interact with HMRC:

1. Go to Taxes.
2. Select Set up MTD.
3. Select Authorise now.
4. Select Continue.
5. In the window that opens, sign in with your MTD Government Gateway user ID and password. This will be in the confirmation email you receive from HMRC.
6. Select Continue.
7. Select Give permission.
8. Once you're connected, select Continue and then Go to Taxes.

Note: if you've already turned on MTD for the client (as an accountant user) you'll need to disconnect the connection so that the client can connect using their MTD Government Gateway.

For further tips on fixing MTD issues and connection errors in QuickBooks Online, see here.
