Does QB online automatically change already entered transactions to show VAT if a client has to become VAT registered. My client has had to regiter for VAT from 1st May.

This would not be automatic, any existing transactions needing to be included in the return would have to be edited to have an applicable VAT code applied in order to hit the return.
