Hello there, @weybojr.

I can walk you through on how to record VAT payment in QuickBooks Online so you can submit your return.

Recording a VAT payment can be done in just a few clicks, please follow these steps below:

  1. Go to Taxes, then select on VAT.
  2. Hit on Payments.
  3. Press on Record Payment.
  4. Choose the bank account you've used to pay HMRC.
  5. Enter the payment date and amount in the appropriate fields.
  6. Add a memo if needed.
  7. Click on Save.

You can use this article as your reference as it also includes a short video clip about this process: Record a VAT payment.

If you're unable to record the payment after performing this, I recommend accessing your account using a private window and track the VAT payment from there. At times, the stored data on your browser's cache can cause unusual behavior like the one that you experienced.

If it works fine, you can go back to your regular browser and clear its cache. This removes unnecessary data and helps prevent this problem from occurring in the future.

To help you in submitting your return, you may check out these links attached on how to perform the process through HMRC Gateway and with Making Tax Digital (MTD):

I got you covered if you have any other questions. I'll make sure you're all set. Have a lovely day and take care!
