My client has made crucial errors in his first year of using Quickbooks and I need to be able to ascertain the vat amount in each past sale and expense transaction. I have tried the "banking" tab, but this does not appear to show the vat .element.

Let me help you find the historical VAT elements in past sales and expenses in QuickBooks Online (QBO), rutter-primeman-.

The Banking page will only show you the downloaded transactions from your bank or credit card accounts. We ca run the VAT Detail report to show the sales and expense for previous year/s. Here's how:

  1. Go to Reports on the left side menu.
  2. Enter VAT Detail Report in the search field.
  3. Choose Last Year in the Report period field.
  4. If you need to modify the report, click the Customise tab.
  5. Select the details in the Rows/Columns and Filter field.
  6. Press Run report.

If you need to export the report to PDF or Excel, just click the Export icon on the report. To learn more about this one, see the Customise reports in QuickBooks Online article.

Feel free to visit our Taxes page for more insights about managing taxes in QuickBooks.

I'd like to know how you get on after trying the steps as I want to ensure this is resolved for you. Just reply to this post and I'll get back to you. Have a great weekend.
