How do I adjust the figure in Box 1 of my vat return?

Adjusting helps you correct any errors in the VAT return, Ritapatwa. We have a guide below on how to do that. We would suggest speaking to an accountant on this however as Quickbooks does not support the fuel scale charge and your accountant may want you to record this differently in Quickbooks.

It'll take a few steps. Let me guide you:

1. Click Taxes, then go to the VAT tab.
2. Select the VAT return, then click Prepare return.
3. Click the Adjust link in the Box 1 row.
4. Fill in the necessary fields, then click Save.

Any manual adjustments will affect the VAT control or VAT suspense account. If you're unsure of the adjustment, you can reach out to your accountant.
