Question

How do I connect QB to Zettle? It says I need to set up VAT codes first in QB but I’m not registered for VAT and accordingly it’s turned off. Any ideas how to sort?

It's nice to see you here, LisaW47.

You'll need to set up Vat Codes into  QuickBooks Online before connecting to the Zettle account. I'm here to guide you with the detailed steps:

1. Go to the Gear icon.

2. Select Account and Settings under Your Company.

3. Go to the Advanced tab.

4. Clik the pencil icon under Accounting.

5. In the Default tax rate selection dropdown, select No VAT.

Once done, connect your Zettle account to QuickBooks Online.

  1. Open your QBO account, then click on Banking at the left pane.
  2. Go to the Banking page, then click on Connect account or Link account (if you have existing bank connected).
  3. Search and select Zettle.
  4. Input the login credentials, then follow the onscreen pop-ups to complete the process.

Here's an article you can read more about adding accounts to download recent transactions automatically: Connect bank and credit card accounts to QuickBooks Online.

After QuickBooks downloads transactions, you'll need to approve and categorize them. Check out this article for the detailed steps: Categorise and match online bank transactions in QuickBooks Online.

Thanks for getting back to us LisaW4, if you don't see the connection here, please first enable VAT by selecting the Taxes > VAT from the left-hand navigation menu (you can enter dummy info in the required fields to complete the set-up). 🙂
