The code you’ll be using will depend on the type of product and service you’re offering to your customer, info587.

If it involves the supply of goods, you can use the 0.0% ECG code. If you’re rendering service, you can use the 0.0% ECS code.

These zero percent codes are advised to apply when doing business to a VAT registered customer in an EC Member State.

For more information about this, please refer to this article: Common VAT Codes.

HI MikiD,

just wanted to ask what VAT code to use for an EC supplier who is not VAT registered? The goods are exempt goods. Should I use 0.00% ECG or 0.00%Z?

Thanks in advance for your help,

Regards,

Sofia

Hi Sofia,

We're unable to advise what code to use. Instead, you can refer to the article shared by MikiD. It has all the codes with explanations, and those are the only ones available in QBO. You can also check with your tax agency or an accountant to find out which applies to your transactions.

If you can't find the code you're looking for, you can contact our QBO Support UK for further assistance or refer to an accounting professional.

  1. Click on Help and click the Search tab.
  2. Click Contact Us at the bottom.
  3. Enter a sentence to describe your concern and click Continue.
  4. Choose Start a chat or Get a callback.

On the other hand, you can check out our articles about taxes should you need more references in the future.

Let me know if you have other questions in mind. Take care and have a good one!
