Question

I'm getting ' we can't connect to hmrc at the moment' when I try to submit my vat return. I am mtd enabled and my vat number is correct. Can anyone help ?

Welcome to the Community, @mikereeve. I'm here to help ensure you're able to submit your VAT return in QuickBooks Online. 

 

We can disconnect and reconnect the MTD feature to refresh the connection. I'll guide you how. 

 

To disable the MTD connection: 

  1. Go to the Gear (Settings) icon at the upper right.
  2. Select Account and Settings under Your Company.
  3. Go to Advanced from the left menu. 
  4. Choose Making Tax Digital
  5. Click the Learn how to disconnect button. 

 

 Once done, enable MTD again. Then, submit your VAT return to the HMRC. 

 

For future reference, you can run the VAT Detail report to view the transactions that are included in each box on the VAT return.
