It says pending on my VAT return. It would usually be accpeted immediately.Any idea why this is the case or does it sometimes take longer if its just a day before its due

Processing may take longer if many returns are submitted close to the deadline, @euromarkltd. 

If you submitted your tax return online, you can easily monitor its progress by visiting your tax agency's official website. Make sure to have your identification details, such as your filing information, handy for a smooth process. 

On the other hand, if you filed your return by mail, you can obtain an update by directly contacting your tax agency. Be prepared to provide your personal information and any specific details related to your return to facilitate a prompt response and ensure you receive accurate information regarding the status of your filing.
