Question

My current VAT Return is open - end date 31/03/20, however I am getting an error message "cannot connect to HMRC at the moment". Is this because the return is still open?

I have previously successfully filed a return for this client (I'm an agent) using QBO with no problem.  I've checked the Agent login details, VAT number is correct etc

If the return is open and the end date is after that days date then yes you will get an error message,essentially it blocks returns from being attempted earlier as they would get rejected from HMRC
