non vat and vat items on same invoice

When you have multiple line items on the invoice with different tax rates or tax types, the system will recognize it by the rates you input in the  *ItemTaxCode column.

You can add the actual tax rate for taxable items and 0% or Exempt for non-taxable and exempt lines. See this sample screenshot:
