'Select an end date which is not in the future' Vat return

I've recently gone Vat registered and am trying to settle up my first payment. I can click on 'Prepare return' and then submit to HMRC, but the end date of the report in next month so it comes up 'Select an end date which is not in the future' but I can not see anywhere to edit it. I've tried a quarterly report but it just goes back to this. Thanks

In QuickBooks, filing a VAT return should be within the filing period. The option to select a future date is not possible. You'll have to select either a current or a previous date.

 

It is designed that way so your reporting will not be messed up.

 

Let me walk you through on how to change the VAT return's end date in QuickBooks Online:

 

  1. Go to Taxes on the left panel.
  2. Within the VAT page, select the Returns tab.
  3. Under the Action column, click Prepare return.
  4. Make sure to select an end date which is not in the future. It's needs be after the starting date.

Thanks you but thats what I have done, its not me selecting an end date in the future, thats what it is doing automatically

Hello Chr15uk, thanks for coming back to us so the obligations come straight to HMRC so it will be them who are wanting the vat return for that period if you think it is wrong you will need to speak to HMRC about this and get them to change it so it shows correctly in Quickbooks for you to then submit it.
