Switching on MTD - Error message

I'm trying to switch on /enable MTD in Quickbooks online. Every time I get to the page that has the 3 steps to make your tax digital Connect to HMRC to stay on top of your tax deadlines, and get ready to submit digital VAT returns straight from QuickBooks. Sign in to HMRC Connect securely to HMRC with your Government Gateway ID . Authorise QuickBooks Give us permission to get your VAT details from HMRC. Visit the VAT centre Step inside, take a look around and start tracking VAT. A new window will open for you to sign in with your Government Gateway ID . When I press the “Get Started” button I get the following error in a seperate pop up browser window: "You do not have the proper permission to access that feature." I'm registered with HMRC (have the confirmation email) and my VAT reg number is correct. Does anyone have any ideas - is my licence not correct?

The error message you've got usually shows if the user is set up as a regular or standard. To change this tax setting, you'll have to be a company or master admin in QuickBooks Online.
 

Please ask your master admin to have your access rights change. Here's how:

  1. First, let them log in to QBO.
  2. Go to the Gear icon and select Manage Users.
  3. Find the username and choose Edit from the Action column.
  4. Select Admin as the User type.
  5. Click Save once done.
