VAT Audit Trail

The VAT Office have requested a VAT Audit Trail detailing sales and purchases that make up the figures on the return.  The VAT Audit Log that is downloadable on Quickbooks Online appears to only provide the most recent entries and not submitted VAT returns.

Is there a way of running a VAT Audit Trail for a previous VAT Period please?

Many thanks

Julie

Yes, there is a way to view the submitted VAT returns, julie39.

We can either see the previous submissions from the Taxes page. Another way is going to the Reports menu and running the VAT reports.

To see the previous VAT returns on the Taxes page, I'd suggest following the steps below.

  1. Go to the Taxes menu.
  2. Click on the drop-down arrow at the end of the desired return.
  3. On the View Summary sectionyou can view the submitted returns.

Please keep in mind that you'll have to screenshot the page and save it manually.

To print or save the VAT returns in the program, you can go to the Reports menu. I'll show you how.

  1. Go to the Reports menu.
  2. Scroll down to the Manage VAT section.
  3. You can run the VAT Detail and VAT exception reports.
  4. Select Customise to personalise the details on the report.
  5. On the Report period section, enter the correct date.
  6. Click on Run report.
  7. Once done, click the Print or Export button.
