VAT Set up when Exporting from QB Desktop to QBO

I have exported a company from Quicksbooks Pro to QBO.

Although the VAT setting in the Desktop file is switched off, the QBO company file has come through with the VAT setting switched on?

I have looked at the Desktop version in more detail and there is a code for VAT Control - although there are no entires on this code I cannot delete this code. I and guessing at some stage VAT was probably switched on in the desktop version and then switched off.

Is there any way I can export the company to QBO with the VAT setting switched off?

Hello, @SHK_23.

The VAT control account will automatically turn on Taxes in QuickBooks Online. Whenever you post a transaction with a VAT code it will post to the VAT control account.

This is why the VAT settings in your QuickBooks Online has automatically turned on. When you switch from QuickBooks Desktop to QuickBooks Online, VAT codes won't convert for all transactions. Some taxes will convert as journal entries or import only the list and balances.

Check this article for more information: What to expect when you switch from QuickBooks Desktop to QuickBooks Online.
