When submitting my vat return using quickbooks (not MTD) it is not showing in my HMRC online vat summary? Why not?

We can check the status of the submitted VAT return, mail16.

Let's log in to your QuickBooks account and please follow these steps:

  1. Go to the Taxes page.
  2. Click the VAT tab and then Returns
  3. Filter to All returns
  4. Check the STATUS column and it's successfully submitted if states that it's Approved by HMRCYou will be able to see the filing when you log into your HMRC account.

You can also take the suggestion provided by my colleague above to reach out to HMRC if you checked that the filing status is approved.

If you see that the return is rejected, there are possible reasons that can cause it. You can drill-down to this article about submitting VAT return and check under the What if my return is rejected? section.

Thanks for reaching out to us about your VAT return submission. If you have further questions please let us know.

Hello mail16,

You may need to confirm with HMRC where this will show in your government gateway as we are unfamiliar with the website layout.

Thanks
