Will i be able to submit my vat return i have a message saying cant connect to hmrc right now?

Let's ensure some information are correct before submitting a VAT return, janet-turner.

 

This error would usually show up if the user ID and password used to connect QBO to HMRC for MTD is not authorised to do a VAT filing for the VAT Registration number in your VAT settings. This can also be caused if:

 

  • ou've just recently signed up for MTD recently and are not set up on HMRC yet. Wait for a confirmation email from HMRC advising that you can already file using MTD.
  • There's no open obligations with HMRC. This can also happen if the date of the current VAT return period has not ended yet. If that's the case, let the period end before submitting your tax return. 

If the issue is related to an accountant and an SMB to submit for the same company, click either the Learn More or Take Action button. It will take you through the steps to connect your own account.
