Hi patricia-tkgraph,

QuickBooks Online provides the option to close the books, to prevent changes that can have a negative impact.  When changes are necessary, you can reopen the books and perform the required tasks.  I would be glad to assist!

Based on the information you've provided, I suggest reviewing two areas within your account.  Let's start with ensuring your subscription is active.  If a product falls inactive, this will prevent you from editing data and saving it.  Follow these steps to review your subscription information;

1. Open your Settings ⚙ and select Subscriptions and billing

2. Click on Resubscribe, then enter the updated billing information

3. Select Resubscribe.

Next, you'll want to open the books.  Here's how;

1. Go to Settings ⚙ and then select Accounts and settings

2. Open the Advanced tab

3. Select Edit ✎ in the Accounting section

4. Turn off the Close the books switch

5. Select Save and then Done.

Should you require additional assistance, please don't hesitate to contact us outside of this forum.  It would be our pleasure to work with you in real time, and ensure you're able to accomplish your QuickBooks goals without delay!

If you have any other questions or concerns, feel free to reach out. We would be happy to assist!
