Question

I am a Canadian QuickBooks user and I want to be able to accept payments from around the world, specifically from the US to start. How do I do that?

I have already set up my account to allow for bank and CC payments. Do I need to send invoices in the foreign currency? Do I need to connect a 3rd party app? Are there additional fees? I want to be set up so I am not sorting it out when I have my first payment to process.

You need a merchant account or payment processor to integrate with your QBO. Unfortunately QB Payments only support domestic transactions. If you are running a service company, you can utilize this app to accept payments internationally.

Hi connect8.

Being able to receive payments from around the world is a great way to expand your business and be able to get paid directly from the invoice. I'd be happy to help explain more about payments.

Currently QuickBooks Payment can only receive payments from Canadian credit cards regardless of the location. If they don't have a Canadian credit card the payment wont go through and will show as failed. If you want to receive payments from people outside of Canada I recommend looking through our third party apps page to find one that may suit your needs. You can access the apps page by clicking on Apps in the left hand menu and look through the listings.

If you have any questions let us know and we'd be happy to help.
