I am new to QBO and want to know the recommended way to account for computer hardware and software over $500 for the CRA

To know how you should be categorizing this transaction,  I recommend speaking to your accountant. Their expertise will be able to assist you in entering the transaction, as well as which accounts to affect so your books can be well balanced. You can invite your accountant to your QuickBooks Online account by going to the My Accountant tab, then entering their contact information. You can also find an accountant near you that has experience using QuickBooks Software using the FInd a pro to help button in that section.
